Between the Lamu archipelago and Somalia is the wildest shore in East Africa - where baboons and hyaenas come to hunt crabs on the beach and where elephants still swim out to islands through the mangroves.
All life here is ruled by the tides - for much of the day, the beach and mangroves are hunting grounds for monkeys, mudskippers and caracals. Twice a day though, the incoming tide turns the mangroves into a flooded forest, bringing with it predators from offshore - young whale sharks, octopus and giant grouper.
Legend predicted this, and divided the bounty of the shore equally between all the animals. One though, made it a permanent home, and for this, it must eventually pay a price...
